Query-Driven Approach to Entity Resolution
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper explores “on-the-fly” data cleaning in the context of a user query. A novel Query-Driven Approach (QDA) is developed that performs a minimal number of cleaning steps that are only necessary to answer a given selection query correctly. The comprehensive empirical evaluation of the proposed approach demonstrates its significant advantage in terms of efficiency over traditional techniques for querydriven applications.

HiDER: Query-Driven Entity Resolution for Historical Data
Entity Resolution (ER) is the task of finding references that refer to the same entity across different data sources. Cleaning a data warehouse and applying ER on it is a computationally demanding task, particularly for large data sets that change dynamically. Therefore, a query-driven approach which analyses a small subset of the entire data set and integrates the results in real-time is signi...
متن کاملThe Effect of Transitive Closure on the Calibration of Logistic Regression for Entity Resolution
This paper describes a series of experiments in using logistic regression machine learning as a method for entity resolution. From these experiments the authors concluded that when a supervised ML algorithm is trained to classify a pair of entity references as linked or not linked pair, the evaluation of the model’s performance should take into account the transitive closure of its pairwise lin...
متن کاملTowards Supporting Exploratory Search over the Arabic Web Content: The Case of ArabXplore
Due to the huge amount of data published on the Web, the Web search process has become more difficult, and it is sometimes hard to get the expected results, especially when the users are less certain about their information needs. Several efforts have been proposed to support exploratory search on the web by using query expansion, faceted search, or supplementary information extracted from exte...
متن کاملQuery-Driven On-The-Fly Knowledge Base Construction
Today’s openly available knowledge bases, such as DBpedia, Yago, Wikidata or Freebase, capture billions of facts about the world’s entities. However, even the largest among these (i) are still limited in up-to-date coverage of what happens in the real world, and (ii) miss out on many relevant predicates that precisely capture the wide variety of relationships among entities. To overcome both of...
